Experiment 38 (young adult thriller, 4RV Publishing, paperback) will be released this summer.

Eighteen-year-old Emily lives with her scientist father and knows nothing about her mother. When Emily begins dating Nate, two strange men in a Lincoln Navigator follow them everywhere. After Nate discovers her mother’s identity, the two men kidnap Emily, but her father doesn’t try to save her. Nate’s rescue fails, so she tries to escape on her own.

Her father holds a deadly secret about her past. Are the two men working for her father? Will Nate give up trying to rescue her? Why do the two men want her? Can she escape and ever have a normal life?

Green River Writers 2013 Summer Retreat

Green River Writers will hold their 2013 summer retreat from Thursday July 11th to Sunday July 14th at the Kavanaugh Center in Crestwood, Kentucky. Poetry and prose writers from several states will meet. Non-members and new writers welcome. Come join us.

2013 SCBWI Midsouth Fall Conference

September 21st and 22nd, the Midsouth SCBWI will hold its annual conference in Franklin, Tennessee, near Nashville. At least 150 children’s writers and illustrators will be joined by agents, editors and guest speakers. I plan to attend.

Killer Nashville 2013

Don’t lock your doors! Killer Nashville is a conference for writers of thrillers (such as me), mysteries, suspense, crime, horror, and adventure. This year they will also have workshops for writers of romance and young adult. The 2013 conference will be August 22 to August 25 at the Hutton Hotel near downtown Nashville.

Louisville SCBWI Chit Chatters Schmooze — Critique Night

Anyone from Kentucky, Tennessee, and southern Indiana is welcome to come.

Date: Monday, June 3^rd. Time: 6 to 8 pm.
Place: Barnes & Noble, in the Café, 801 South Hurstbourne Parkway. This is about a mile north of I-64, on the right. This is NOT the B&N at the Summit Shopping Center.
At this month’s schmooze we will offer optional critiques. Writers can read from their manuscript for three minutes. We will give on the spot critiques. The first hour will be for socializing, the second hour for critiquing. Illustrators are always welcome.
No RSVP required. You do not need to be a member of SCBWI to attend.

Memorial Day Tribute

I would like to pay my respects to the wounded and dead of all wars. Also on this day, I would to pay my respects to the civilian casualties of wars. 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the 1863 deaths of my great-great-grandparents, William Andrew Greenfield and Mary Mann Greenfield. They were murdered by Civil War militia near Brandenburg, Kentucky. Rest in Peace.
