I have a literary mystery, 1955, rural Kentucky. The title is currently Whistle Pig Down. I am thinking of changing the title to Ferry to Hell, but is this title too melodramatic? Or do titles need to be that way? I would love everyone’s opinion.
Sally barges into James’s isolated cabin and begs for help. After someone kidnaps her, James tries to rescue her and discover if she killed a grocery clerk during a robbery. When she learns that he is accused of murdering a couple over a lover’s quarrel and of war crimes, she tries to clear his name and his conscience. Can they save each other?
Chuck,
Up or Down, you had me at Whistle Pig. If that doesn’t pique peoples’ curiosity, I don’t know what will, unless you think of someway to combine both titles, possibly one or the other as a sub title.
Good luck and good fortune. It’s sounds like you are well on your way.

Thanks, Steve. Some of the Facebook ladies said “Whistle Pig” was so-so. But an agent is reading it as “Whistle Pig.”
