Charles,
Just moved into the area from Vermont, seven days after the “Walking Bridge” opened. I’ve been a children’s writer-editor with Britannica’s “YCE,” Compton’s “Precyclopedia,” and now with my SassyLLC which is mounting an online children’s store that other children’s stores can join as it is non-competitive. Was a NESCBWI member while teaching creative writing at the Univeersity of Maine Machiss and briefly again from Vermont. Like to know more about the group.
Thanks,
John “Jack” Dennis
John,
GRW is located in Louisville. I am just the contest chairman, but we have quarterly retreats at the Kavanaugh Center, which isn’t far from Louisville (7 miles from my east-end home)We have 2 critique meetings a month, one for prose & one for poets. We also publish a newsletter 3 times a year. 200 on the mailing list, about 50 active members. Membership is $25 a year. Our prose group & retreats are flexible: children’s writing, non-fiction, memoir, fiction, we’ve had the odd movie script. Adults only, some of the writing may not be appropriate for kids.
Thanks for your prompt response. I’d like to visit one of your upcoming meetings, if thst is possible.
Is GRW associated with SCBWI in any way?
Enjoy your day.
Jack
You can visit GRW’s critique meetings or retreats without being a member. If you start coming on a regular basis, they will ask you to pay a membership fee. No, SCBWI MIdsouth is for KY/TN. I belong to that, too. WE have a schmooze on the first Monday of the month. See my website for more info.
