Recently I posted about Wyatt Earp who died in 1929. In his lifetime, he was either known as one of the Earp Brothers (5 including him) or the brother of Marshal Virgil Earp.
Consisting of interviews with Wyatt, Stuart Lake’s Wyatt Earp: Frontier Marshal was released in 1931. Four movies and TV series were made off this book. An 1881 shootout in Tombstone Arizona became known as the Gunfight at the O.K Corral, though it was 6 doors down from there. Virgil, who led the lawmen in the shootout, became Wyatt’s sidekick. Wyatt Earp became a household name.
Such is the power of the pen. My original Wyatt Earp post was 02 16 2019.
