Did Robin Hood’s band meet here? In 2005, a husband and wife exploring Sherwood Forest discovered the remains of Thyngehowe, the name means thynge, thing, an ancient assembly of freeman. And howe, hill, a burial (fairy) mound beside the outdoor assembly. Thynghowe was used by Danish Vikings around 800 AD in what was then Danelaw, Danish occupied England. The hill indicates bronze age settlement about 4000 years ago.
