Queen Guinevere’s favorite treat?
She baked Cornish saffron buns (a type of teacake) for holidays. It is said to be a gift of the ancient Phoenicians who mined tin in Cornwall. Ingredients: 1 lb Plain Flour, 4 oz lard and butter, 4 oz castor sugar, Currants to taste, 1 oz fresh yeast, saffron.
