Pasteles de hoja
The Taino Indians of Boriken (Puerto Rico) cook pasteles for holidays. They are Puerto Rican relatives of Aztec tamales. Pasteles de masa are made of nautia/taro root, green plantain, green banana, kabocha pumpkin. Or pasteles de yuca. Both are wrapped in banana leaves and boiled. The filling is diced/spiced pork, garbanzos, olives, recaito, sazon.
