The Story of the Philadelphia Experiment, in October 1943 the USN destroyer escort USS Eldridge was newly launched. After high-voltage MAY have hit the ship, the story takes several twists: in a time-travel experiment, the ship went back in time a few seconds or longer. The ship teleported, ending up several miles away. The ship was rendered invisible. The electricity fused several sailors to the ship. The only rational explanation involves a nearby ship that was experimenting with degaussing—destroying the ship’s magnetic field to make it invisible to floating magnetic mines. Take your pick. (where are the aliens?) The ship was sold to Greece and scrapped in the 90s. Beware. Your car might be part of the Eldridge.
