Granddaddy of ballgames: Ulama is still played in rural Mexico though it is 4,000 years old. The ancient Maya called it Pitz, the Aztec called it tlachtli. In English, it is sometimes known as Ceremonial Ball, and is the likely ancestor of lacrosse. It was played on courts or open fields with a rubber ball. It has 3 versions; played with hip paddles, wrapped forearms, or paddles. (there are women’s versions)
