Happy President’s Day—February 15. President Zachary Taylor (1784-1850) was born in Virginia but came to Louisville as a baby. Though he was a Whig, (forerunner on the Republican Party) he was a slave owner. Much of his plantation is now Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, but his mansion is a private residence.
