For March—Women’s History Month—I want to start with my great…great grandmother, Lady Godiva (Godgifu), born about 1000 AD, died around 1070. Yes, she rode through Coventry horseback, but not nude, she was wearing a linen shift. She owned Coventry and many estates and was married to the Earl of Mercia. She was among a handful of Anglo-Saxon nobles to retain her lands following the Norman invasion. Among her descendants are William Shakespeare and Daniel Webster.
