St. Andrew’s Day, November 30, 2021 is the national day of Scotland—Scots, Saunt Andra’s Day—Gaelic, Là Naomh Anndrais. It is 1,000 years old, thought to be a day of slaughter from Samhain—perhaps a Pictish celebration. I dedicate this to David Suddeth, my 8th great-grandfather who was born in Scotland.
