A man rushed into the house. “They just attacked Pearl Harbor.”
Someone said, “There ain’t no Pearls living in Sellersburg.”
Dad was 12, their Sellersburg house just outside the town limits, didn’t have electricity for a radio. That day they certainly learned where and what Pearl Harbor was.
Many years later, my wife and I toured Honolulu twice. She hated history—we never visited Pearl Harbor—maybe for the better as so much death would’ve been a shock.
