Camelot was King Arthur’s castle. A prime candidate for its location is Cadbury Castle Hill Fort in Somerset, which was heavily fortified about 500 AD, the time when King Arthur was active. This is near the River Camel. Excavations show a large hall that might have been King Arthur’s throne room. It was occupied for about 5,000 years, as late as 1200 AD by Saxons. I can almost see King Arthur and Guinevere strolling hand-in-hand.
