Norse (Viking language) yet lives—3,000 people in central Sweden speak the Elfdalian language, the dialect closest to Old Norse. Until the mid-twentieth century, they used Dalecarlian runes. No word on longship usage. We are pretty sure Viking raids are a thing of the past except perhaps for a movie set.
