Axolotl is a salamander living in 2 of the 5 lakes in Mexico City and were a prime part of the Aztec diet. They are unique in that they exhibit neoteny—adults retain an immature, larval stage and retain gills for breathing. And they can regenerate/grow new limbs, eyes, even brains. Adults are about a foot long and are carnivorous.
