A Tale of 2 Cities:
Shikaakwa is a Miami word for Place of Ramps (Wild onions) which I believe also means Stinky Place. The French spelled it Chicago, thus the city got its name. Windy City sounds better.
Jorvik was Old Norse for Wild Boar Bay, which became York though it said to be a misunderstanding of Old English Eoforīc, Wild Boar Place. Then New York, Yes, New Wild Boar Bay.
