I believe these signs are in or near Cherokee, NC, Qualla Boundary. Most of the signs are obvious. Paint Town Road is named after the Paint Clan—the reservation was divided into clan areas, 7 total. As I understand the Paint Clan, they gathered herbs and the like, which included various plants for paints.
