Little Derby?

I have a suggestion for Churchill Downs: Pony racing. Call it the Little Kentucky Derby. I first watched pony races when I was a vet student at Michigan State. They are a lot of fun.

The 145th Kentucky Derby will be held May 4th at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. A crowd of about 150,000 is expected. Besides horses, the Derby offers music, food, fashions, partying, and of course, mint juleps.

What the devil is Thurby?

Derby is the first Saturday in May, Derby Eve (Oaks Day) is the Friday before. Local people go to the Thurby, Churchill Downs the Thursday before the Derby. (May 3) Meet the Louisville people, few of us go to the Derby or the Oaks, and Thurby is much cheaper.

There will be 4 bands, other special events, Dawn at the Downs, and 11 races including the Kentucky Juvenile Stakes (Listed) and Opening Verse Overnight Stakes. Come join us!
