Grim reaper and I

When I answered a knock at my door,

The grim reaper was standing there.

I knew my life on this earth was no more,

He was a sight no human could bear.


His eyes were afire, and his breath was quite rank,

His scythe was long and ever so keen,

Tears wet my cheeks as my heart almost sank,

No living soul had ever beheld this scene.


I wept like a baby as I begged for my life,

He laughed and told me to grovel at his feet.

I pled for just one more day with my wife,

He swung his scythe and took me in defeat.
