The death of handwriting: I subbed today with 23 well-behaved 4th-graders at a good school. I took a survey. 3 knew how to write cursive. A half-dozen could read it. The rest? It was Greek to them. Perhaps we can encourage calligraphy & kids will learn cursive without realizing it.

The End of Handwriting!

I am a substitute for the Louisville schools. Today at a good school with good kids, I gave my fifth graders a handout, Cursive Practice. They not only couldn’t write, they couldn’t read it. (yes, they can print) Some wanted to learn, but others saw no point in learning.

Is handwriting doomed?
