Frangipani Fright

Mictecacihuatl, Queen of Mictlan speaks:

I am coming for you, perhaps this very night.

I might just swallow you whole, take you to Mictlan.

Perhaps I will just pluck your heart out on a pyramid,

Cast your corpse into a field of orange marigolds.

Or I could boil you in a pot of chilies, have a feast,

Place you in an Aztec taco or devour you whole.

Ah lovelies, don’t sleep tonight,

I like to look my victims in the eye.

Day of the Dead—Day 2

Dia de Muertos continues. Mictēcacihuātl, Lady of the Dead or Queen of Mictlan (Aztec underworld), loves to eat the stars while wearing a skirt of living serpents. Her face is often an empty skull. If you see lots of orange marigolds, she might be near.
