Never give up!

I am reading John Steinbeck’s Tortilla Flat. His first 3 novels netted him a grand total of $900, the publishers going broke during the Depression. His 1st book only sold 1,400 copies. He persevered. His next novel, Tortilla Flat, was a best seller. He won the 1962 Nobel Prize. not bad for an early failure!

Gabriel García Márquez, the Nobel Prize-winning author of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” and “Love in the Time of Cholera,” died April 17, age 87. Born in Columbia, he has been called the most influential Spanish novelist since Cervantes.

I first learned about him, because he popularized Magical Realism. RIP
