Friday September 4, 2020 was the running of the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. This day was Derby Eve AKA Oaks Day AKA The Run for the Lilies—the race 3-year old fillies. Though no one was in the stands, it was an exciting race. Seedaresthedevil won. Swiss Skydiver placed (2nd) and Gamine showed (3rd).

Win: Bellafina: I have to go with the favorite. No other filly has a record like hers.
Place: Lady Apple: She won her last race, beating Motion Emotion by a length. She also has a good trainer.
Show: Motion Emotion: Finished 2nd in last race, so I ordinarily would not choose her. But Jockey Mike Smith is good, and his Derby mount scratched. I am betting he will be hungry enough to keep this filly in the race.
These are my ideas, but hey, what do I know? If I’m right, feel free to send me a tip. If I’m wrong, c’est la vie.
LET THE LADIES RACE!

Friday at Churchill Downs is Oaks Day AKA Derby Eve. (May 3, 2019) The Oaks, the Run for the Lilies, is the premier race for 3-year-old fillies. It will be live via NBC. 144 years old, Oaks Day is much like the Derby—similar crowds, foods, and so on. In place of mint juleps, is the Oaks Lily. My guess is that 100,000 will attend. (not me, I am a widower)
