They’re off!

The next big little thing?

When I was a student at Michigan State University, I got to watch pony races held in an athletic field. No betting allowed—not sure if prize money was involved. It was a lot of fun to watch—nowadays pony racing is mostly Shetland Ponies with child jockeys or sulky racing, children riding. Then there is miniature horse chariot racing—adults in the chariots. Maybe we can persuade Churchill Downs to hold pony races—it will add new meaning to the phrase “betting the ponies.”

They’re off!

The next big sport. Possum racing is about to reach the big time says RAP—Racing American Possums, Inc. Hopefully it will become part of the Kentucky Derby Festival. (just don’t hurt any possums)

Mules away!

Mule racing has hit California. Kentucky next? I hope so. When I was small, we lived on a mule-powered farm on the Ohio River near Charlestown Indiana.
