Today, March 20, is Eostre—Spring Equinox. Eostre is the Anglo-Saxon dawn goddess, also a fertility goddess. Hence Eostre bunnies and Eostre flowers and Eostre eggs.

First day of spring!

Let’s call it a draw. Today (Saturday March 20) is the Spring Equinox when night and day are even. The Anglo-Saxons called Eostre, which sounds like Easter because it is Easter, only a few days early.

Happy Ostara! Today is also known as the Spring Equinox/Vernal Equinox, that is the first day of spring. Eggs, rabbits, and sunrise worship were common for ancient Ostara celebrants just as they are for us. Stonehenge is the center of Ostara celebrations for many people and religions.
