He changed his name to St. Patrick. He was born in Bannavem Taburnia, on the Roman road, Watling Street, about 385 AD, his father a Roman-British soldier, and died March 17, 461. He drove the followers of Corra, an Irish serpent/dragon goddess out of Ireland, hence the story of him driving the snakes out. [Photo of town’s location, excavated field]

A salute out to my triple-great grandmother, Nancy Hinkle Moore Suddeth, born Xmas Day about 1795 in Ireland, died about 1870 in Vienna Indiana on the same farm my grandfather, Lawrence Suddeth, was born on.

Happy St. Pat’s day to ye!

I salute my great-great-great grandmother, Nancy Hinkle. She emigrated from Ireland to Kentucky and married my great-great-great grandfather, Jared Suddeth 200 years ago. The Suddeths came from a line of Celtic peoples, Scotland and Cornwall especially. She spent most of her life on a farm near Vienna Indiana in Scott County.
