Don’t lock your doors! Killer Nashville is a conference for writers of thrillers (such as me), mysteries, suspense, crime, horror, and adventure. This year they will also have workshops for writers of romance and young adult. The 2013 conference will be August 22 to August 25 at the Hutton Hotel near downtown Nashville.

From Thursday, November 3 to Sunday, November 6 I attended the Green River Writers Poetry Workshop and Retreat at the Kavanaugh Center in Crestwood, Kentucky. Writers from several states attended. We had critiques, a poetry reading, and a seminar on Assembling and Publishing Poetry Chapbooks.

From Friday, April 29th to Sunday, May 1st, I attended the Indiana SCBWI Annual Conference in Indianapolis, which included Intensives, workshops, and various manuscript critiques. Speakers included Agent Mary Kole from the Andrea Brown Literary Agency and Lisa Yoskowitz, an Editor from Disney-Hyperion Books.

On September 24th, 25th, and 26th, I will attend a workshop/conference in Nashville, Tennessee hosted by the Midsouth SCBWI. Several agents and editors will also be attending it.

On Saturday, July 25th, the LL&N Online Critique Group met at the hotel in Mammoth Cave National Park. The four-hour meeting included a discussion on writing and face-to-face manuscript critiques. Including guests, eight people attended.

I will be attending the Midsouth (SCBWI) Workshop and Retreat July 16th, 17th, and 18th at the Kavanaugh Center. An Associate Editor at Viking Children’s Books will conduct the workshop.
